Riello UPS Receives The Frost and Sullivan 2007 Product Line Leadership Award

Riello UPS has been awarded the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Product Line Leadership Award following a recent review of the European uninterruptible power supplies market. The award recognises Riello UPS’ commitment to customer focused solutions and its range of innovative single and three-phase power systems.

Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that most clearly demonstrates an outstanding ability to satisfy the needs of its customers and market place. To be the best, a manufacturer’s product range is judged across a number of importance factors including: price, technical performance and features.

”The new MULTI PLUS from Riello UPS is a clear example of why the company deserves this award” commented Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Ms. Pallavi Suresh. “This UPS was designed to meet the call for flexible power protection within the growing three-phase UPS market in Europe. Here in particular, customers wanted a UPS that could be used across the widest possible number of load types and installation environments, with energy saving features, advanced communications options and outstanding electrical performance.”

The MULTI PLUS UPS range has been designed to cover critical data applications and is packaged in conveniently sized units of 10, 12, 15, 20, 30 and 40kVA, all with internal batteries. Models up to 20kVA have been installed across Europe to great acclaim and the 30 and 40kVA models are expected to ship later this year.

One of the most appealing features of the MULTI PLUS range is its substantial energy-saving potential which can result in 40% less dissipated energy savings per annum than a traditional UPS solution. This gives the MULTI PLUS a distinct advantage at a time when energy costs are rising and there is a growing desire within organisations to help preserve natural resources and reduce carbon emissions.

MULTI PLUS has been designed to have a zero-impact on its environment in terms of generated harmonics. The UPS has a unique power-up feature, enabling a progressive rectifier start-up and a high input power factor of 0.99 to reduce its interaction and effect on upstream power sources. Enhanced battery performance is another innovation with the UPS having a cyclic battery charging option to minimise electrolyte consumption, improve performance and extend operating life.

To enable MULTI PLUS to work with a wide variety of applications, the UPS has been designed to operate with load power factors ranging from 0.9 leading to 0.9 lagging. In addition to its low heat output and compact footprint, this feature makes MULTI PLUS one of the best suited UPS for the protection of high-density loads (such as blade servers) within data centre environments. Its various operating modes, including On-Line, Eco, Smart-Active and Stand-By/Off also allow customers to configure UPS operation to best meet the needs of their loads at any time of day.

MULTI PLUS has a sophisticated range of communications options including a front graphic display panel that provides real-time measurements, operating status, and alarms conditions in five different languages. The UPS also has a variety of options for remote monitoring, extended runtime applications, temperature monitoring, electrical isolation and power distribution.

Alongside its product innovation strategy, Riello UPS has consistently maintained a focus on its customers - building strong customer relationships and developing an effective distribution channel. On demand delivery of its UPS and spare parts and outstanding service and maintenance provision are key aspects of its growth strategy and have enabled the company to generate a high level of trust and customer goodwill.

“A varied product range combined with high-end technical innovation, consultative selling, excellent service and maintenance, and effective distribution channels all come together to make Riello UPS the worthy recipient of the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Product Line Leadership Award in the European three phase UPS market,” concludes Ms. Suresh. “Riello UPS has displayed true innovation and vision in developing a wide range of products to respond to changing market trends and customer needs.”
