Our pioneering Master+ partnership with RWE is shortlisted for the DCS Awards 2020 – and we need your help to win!
Riello UPS and RWE have developed the Master+ solution to enable data centres to play a part in the energy transition towards a smarter grid.
Now it has been shortlisted for the “Data Centre Power Innovation of the Year” prize at this year’s DCS Awards.
The pioneering project enables data centre operators to rethink the role of their UPS and battery systems, transforming their traditional backup into a “virtual power plant” that can feed stored energy back into the grid to help balance the network.
The innovative Master+ concept brings together a highly-efficient UPS system, expanded battery storage, 24/7 monitoring, and risk-free access to energy markets.
It allows data centre operators to benefit from enhanced system reliability, expanded battery autonomy, lower operating and maintenance costs, and the opportunity to earn revenue through frequency response and other demand side response (DSR) mechanisms.
First staged in 2011, the DCS Awards are staged annually by popular online publication Data Centre Solutions (DCS) as a way of recognising examples of excellence in the UK’s data centre sector.
This year’s event saw a bumper 300 nominations across 31 categories covering everything from efficiency, data security, cloud, through to cooling, edge, and automation.
Now the overall winners will be decided by a public vote.

Riello UPS Aiming For More DCS Awards Success
This year marks the 10th staging of the DCS Awards, which celebrate the excellence of suppliers, designers, manufacturers and operators working in Britain’s booming data centre sector.
Riello UPS has a history of success at the awards, winning for three successive years from 2016-18.
We won the “Data Centre Efficiency Project of the Year” category in both 2016 and 2018, while our Multi Power Combo scooped “Product of the Year” back in 2017.
